About the Artist
ALEXANDRA GHIMISI ( FRBSA, NAPA)
Alexandra Ghimisi is a Romanian-born contemporary painter (born 1977), based in the United Kingdom. She graduated from the National University of Arts Bucharest in 2008 with a BA (Hons) degree in Decorative Arts and Design. This was a significant milestone in her artistic journey, as it provided her with a formal education and helped her to develop her skills and artistic vision.
Between 2008 and 2016 Alexandra run her own company as an interior designer, bringing to life concepts and helping clients to achieve their vision.
In 2016, Alexandra made the decision to leave Romania and pursue an art career in the UK. Alexandra embarked on her artistic journey in 2016 when she relocated to the UK to pursue her passion for art. This was likely a major change, as she was moving to a new country and navigating a new art scene, determined to pursuit her artistic goals.
Currently based in Nottinghamshire, Alexandra plays a pivotal role as a part-time Art Tutor with Inspire Culture, where she imparts painting techniques to adult learners. As an exhibiting member of the Nottingham Society of Artists, Alexandra actively contributes to the local art scene.
Since 2019, Alexandra is collaborating with Inspire Culture& Libraries as an Art Tutor. This role likely allows her to share her passion and knowledge with others and help them develop their own artistic skills.
In 2021, Alexandra achieved a significant milestone by hosting her first solo exhibition at the Nottingham Society of Artists Gallery. This exhibition served as a testament to her unwavering commitment to her craft and marked a pivotal moment in her artistic career Her artwork was elected to be exhibited during the London Biennale of Women in Art 2024.
In 2025 she won the third prize of the Parcus Prize Global Art contest and in 2024 she was awarded the Holbrooke Art first prize. Her paintings have been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the Harley Gallery (Welbeck Estate), the London Biennale, and exhibitions with both the Birmingham and Nottingham Society of Artists.
She is honoured to be a Fellow of the Nottingham Society of Artists, a friend of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists) and a member of NAPA UK(The National Acrylic Painters' Association. Her work is exhibited in public and private collections across France, Italy, Switzerland.
