Emma Major

About the Artist

Emma Major is a Derbyshire based multi-passionate creative, exploring themes of the seen and unseen. Lived experience of mental health challenges reignited a passion to work with paint and ultimately a pivot from design to Art Psychotherapy. Seeking inspiration and meaning everywhere, equally happy with a camera, pen or paintbrush in hand, Emma approaches the canvas with no intention, only invitation, responding intuitively through gestural abstraction. Fluid forms, lines, colours, words and negative space explore the tension of internal and external expression, offering connection between feeling, meaning and body; an embodied flow of intuitive exploration. The artworks lift the mask, evoking a dance through emotions and responses, within the textures of a neurodivergent mind.
