About the Artist
We are a husband and wife team who create art/gifts/ornaments from driftwood, recycled wood and embellishments, sometimes making small items from clay, fabric, matchsticks, beads, even old jewellery and buttons! We try wherever possible to avoid plastics unless we are reusing items. We are based in Derby, working from home but source our driftwood from North Cornwall (where our daughter lives) or Conwy North Wales which is closer to us! Our journey started with decoupage on wooden hearts, but now our inspiration comes from any and everywhere particularly when browsing shops, museums and curio shops, even family and friends send us ideas. We sell mainly through craft and makers markets, but we do have a shelf in Cromford mills shop Weaveknitit.
'The Waterfront'
Description: Our interpretation of a busy harbour scene. Everything is hand crafted except for the metal embellishments. The four buildings are recycled wood with birch, cork and wooden roofs. Birch doors, clay barrel and life buoy, metal steps and anchor, real fishing wire and the row of buildings are mounted on a driftwood base. (All our wood is washed and treated if necessary).
