I am a Derbyshire based Family Therapist by day and an artist/maker of various things at other times. Being a creative is central to the way I understand myself and see no distinction between the creative practice of Family Therapy and the making of physical art. At present I am mainly focused on creating jewellery but have previously been a carver of wooden sculptures. This piece ‘The Hand’, is something I made a few years ago whilst developing wooden carving. I like to allow the form to emerge from the material as the process begins thus ‘freeing’ the piece from its hidden place. Hidden realities is an area of interest of mine and am entertained by the realisation of something which was present but not apparent prior to the energy of creativity being applied.
