Mary Yacoob
About the Artist
Mary Yacoob is a London-based visual artist whose intricate, high-concept practice explores the mesmerizing intersection of art and science. A graduate of Central Saint Martins and an Arts Council England award recipient, Yacoob transfigures the functional visual language of cartography, architectural blueprints, engineering schematics, and geometric diagrams. By removing these technical maps from their original contexts, she transforms rigid data systems into mysterious, monumental, and deeply immersive cyphers for the imagination.
An influential figure in the contemporary cross-disciplinary art scene, Yacoob’s work is held in collections and has been displayed across institutional spaces, including University College London (UCL).
Her complex, large-scale original drawings and custom plates commanding up to €698 (~£585)
at international auctions, while limited-edition cyanotype and silkscreen prints have sold for £220.
Works by this artist were donated from the collection of Ivan Jones.
