Richard Mynett
About the Artist
I am based in Nottingham and have a longstanding love of painting and drawing. I love nature and the environment and all of my work fits under this umbrella, broadly speaking. I also enjoy the act of making work, the lines, drips, marks and brush strokes and how these can be layered to create an image that is more than the sum of these components. Recently I have been examining the role of nature as a system of beliefs and how we often ascribe human emotions and narratives to it to help us explain and understand it, and ourselves. This painting forms part of that group of work and looks investigates everyday wild animals imagined as icons.
